IT training · Brand strategy and identity

Cyberskills.

Cybernaptics, a well-established IT firm, asked us to build the brand for its new, hands-on IT learning centre. We took it from first workshop to a full identity, guidelines and launch collateral.

01Defining the brand

A workshop to find the "why".

The project began with a brand workshop and several discovery sessions. The aim was to clarify the company's goals and values and hone in on its "whys". The outcome was a clear brand story and voice for Cyberskills.

02Understanding the customer

Two personas as a filter.

Using what surfaced in the workshop, we defined the target audience and built two detailed customer personas. They work as a filter, so every brand visual, marketing effort and piece of collateral is designed around what those customers need and want.

03A hands-on approach

High energy, real hardware.

Cyberskills teaches IT through real-life scenarios. Students work hands-on with hardware and software, which makes for a rich, high-energy learning experience. Our aim was to make the brand feel the same way.

04A dynamic brand system

Three directions, one stylescape.

We started the visual system with stylescapes: research-based compositions of photos, fonts, shapes, colours and graphics. We presented three directions, then worked with the Cyberskills team to narrow and refine them into one final stylescape, the reference point for every future brand asset.

05The logo

Bold, clear, typographic.

As a new name in IT training, Cyberskills needed a bold, clear typographic logo. We drew up and reviewed several ideas and sketches with the Cyberskills team, and the final mark does exactly what we set out to achieve.

06Creating the collateral

Bringing it to life.

With the guidelines, messaging tone and visual system defined, we brought the brand to life: letterhead, business cards and signage for expos and events, plus the guidelines book that keeps it all consistent.
